Does PACH test for COVID19? ¿La clinica PACH tiene prueba para COVID19?

No testing can be done in our office. Testing is ordered from the ER or the Health Department only after a patient is screened. The main objective of testing is not to get treatment, there is no medicine that treats this virus, but to prevent the spread of the virus to others.

If you or your family member has: Fever greater than 100.4, Cough, shortness of breath, AND has traveled to a location experiencing a high COVID19 activity OR exposure to a known case of COVID19. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

Please, DO NOT come to PACH, go to the ER, or Urgent Care. Call the ER or the health department to be screened to determine if COVID19 testing is necessary. Remember that the purpose of testing is primarily to control the spread of the virus, NOT for treatment. If you are having a difficult time getting through to the ER, health department, you can call PACH and we can help determine if you need to go to the ER for further treatment by doing a preliminary phone call screening of your symptoms.

If you’re sick, you should not leave your house except to go to the doctor at your doctor’s recommendation, and if you do, wear a mask (regular is fine, you don’t need an N95). You DO NOT NEED TO GO TO THE ER unless you are having trouble breathing or your fever is very high and unmanaged with the recommended over the counter medication.

What can I do to protect myself and others from COVID19? ¿Qué puedo hacer para protegerme a mí mismo y a los demás de COVID19?

Self-isolation and good handwashing are the best defense. There is no medicine to cure this virus. Treatment is all supportive, patients are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, control fever with Tylenol or Motrin, rest and good hygiene just like other viral infections. Stay at home and away from any vulnerable family members. To do your part to protect or community, please avoid unnecessary crowded gatherings, reschedule any social events. Kids can go outside and play.

There is no vaccine for the coronavirus, and the CDC advises that the best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

In addition, we are asking the whole community to practice strong prevention strategies such as:

• washing hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds
• avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
• avoid sharing drinks and food
• avoid close contact with those who are sick
• stay home when you are sick
• cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
• clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

How will I get my regular medication if I can’t come to the clinic to see a doctor? ¿Cómo obtendré mi medicamento regular si no puedo ir a la clínica a ver a un médico?

• Our medical providers will be sending refills to your regular pharmacy to ensure you have access to your medication. Please call the clinic and let us know if you are running low of medication and we will call you back to speak with you and determine if our medical providers will need you to visit the clinic before refills are sent to your pharmacy.
• If you receive your medications from PACH, we will continue to provide them for you. Please call to let us know if you are running low so that we can prepare accordingly before your visit.
• If you are sick and are in need of your medications, please do not come to the clinic or leave your home, please call the clinic. We will make sure you get your medication and deliver them to your home of necessary.

Currently, all non-urgent outpatient visits are postponed until further notice to help reduce potential exposure to COVID19.
